Could Calgary become ground zero for a new hotbed of game development?
We think so. Here’s why:
A growing game development company with multiple bestseller titles is relocating to Calgary in 2019 (we will use this event to announce this exciting development). This creates a significant foothold for building out the sector.
This event is for game developers, designers, programmers, artists, sound designers, writers, educators, and others, with an interest in gamification.
A town hall style gathering to begin the conversation around these basic topics:
1. Uncovering the existing talent in Calgary
2. Uncovering existing game development ventures, media development (e.g., AR, VR, MR, etc.), and research in the Calgary area
3. Beginning the development of an intensive program for the rapid creation of talent to support game development in Calgary
4. Next steps
Facilitated by Lori Farley and Gary Ellis of Intonovus Canada. Hosted by the CEO of the gaming company along with the partners in Thin Air Labs and the education team from EvolveU.
Thin Air Labs and the game development company intend to bring investment and expertise together to build multiple new gaming ventures in Calgary. They will bolster the local ecosystem by bringing support to existing companies and projects while relocating promising global companies to Calgary. Beginning right now.
Other topics may emerge and we can talk about those too. Hope to see you there! Spread the word!
